Hello, and welcome to my first ever blog. I never thought I’d do this – never thought I’d think it worth it to post my seemingly self-important ramblings for my friends, family and all the world to see. Honestly, you’re usually pretty lucky if you get a verbal version of my life’s events, as I typically prefer to be a relatively private person. So what changed?

Just recently I got diagnosed with  a pituitary tumor. Until this discovery, I had no idea even where the pituitary gland was (underarm?) much less what it did. But now I’m facing neurosurgery, and although the outlook is apparently excellent, that doesn’t change the fact that when you are faced with the words “tumor” and “surgery” and “head” all in the same sentence, your mind clicks into overdrive and just doesn’t shut up.

So I convinced myself to take some time and get it all out in writing. And then, I thought that if I was going to go that far, I might as well do it on a blog. It helps me work through it, it might keep family and friends up to date, and who knows – it may be a comforting resource to someone halfway across the world sometime going through the same thing. Therefore, welcome to the Pituitary Dave blog. I’m not promising award-winning writing or even clear rants. Just maybe a bit of insight.

I’ll post a bit of background to catch everyone up next.
